LODGE ABERCROMBY NEWS LETTER FROM THE RWM
Brethren, This is our first NEWS letter for 2019 which the purpose of is keep you all updated and a will also give you a better inside knowledge of what is going on and up and coming in our lodge. As we move into another year and my second year as your right worshipful master I think you will all agree that our lodge is in a very good place just now.
2018 was a very good year for the lodge, we had 5 new entrants into our lodge with more on the horizon this year. We have upgraded the ladies toilets to a very high standard and painted the lounge and the bar area and the bar itself. However saying that our charity funding days did not do too well as we were unable to host our annual golf day due to the weather and other things and were also unable to host our family party night due to the lack of support from our lodge members. This is something that we will be focusing more on this year as these funding days and nights means a lot to the lodge and we need to collectively look at planning these events better and advertising them more.
Our annual AGM in 2018 raised a couple of issues that we will be addressing and have addressed one of which was the heating in the building. As you are all aware we installed a new boiler in the lodge and it was not set properly and was on the wrong setting of which we only discovered which has now been rectified and the wireless remote has now been sited in the main hall which is making a difference throughout the lodge itself. The other point was that we or myself will bring back the regalia collection as I was not aware that it was passed at the committee meeting that we do the two collections so my apologies brethren on that point.
The election of office bearers for 2019 has now once again placed us in a strong position as we have all offices covered this year. We will of course still be looking to involve our past masters to cover ritual parts and be focusing and encouraging our own brethren to learn ritual parts that they can do for our lodge. This will be aimed at all lodge members and be good to get more brethren involved again this will make the lodge stronger and build a better bond in the lodge as it’s not all about the office bearers every week as this is your mother lodge and you should be proud to be part of it. Brethren if you would like to get involved and learn ritual can you please let us know and you can come along on a Sunday night at rehearsal and practice it and when you feel that you are ready to go on the floor on a Tuesday night and deliver that part of ritual.
This year has also seen our bro secretary Ronald McMillan retire from his role which he did for the past 13 years and has now handed over his successor bro Robert Stewart. This is a very important role in our lodge and we could not have found a more digillent and hard working person to fill this role and I know that Robert will carry out his duties to the highest standard that we are used to.
Brethren I hope you have enjoyed what is our first lodge NEWS letter and will be a hopefully a start in the right way. If you have any concerns regarding the welfare of our lodge or you wish to get involved which I hope you do then please do not hesitate to contact me or have the chat with me as we want to get the Brethren involved to build for the future and as I have said in my letter this is OUR lodge so please get InTouch with either myself or our brother secretary.
Finally our brother Almoner has had a difficult year in 2018 with the loss to few of our Brethren to the grand lodge above and all of whom were very close to our hearts. It’s not the easiest job in the lodge but James for fills his role gracefully and attends to the needs of the unwell and their families and we thank you so much for this James. If there is any brother or brothers wife or family member who are unwell and would like the bro almoner to visit again please get in touch.
Warm and fraternal greetings
RWM
Bro David Stewart
